Waitakere Youth Brass

The Waitakere Youth Brass Band established in late 2008 by Waitakere Brass’s Musical Director, Steven Booth, enables young musicians to get involved in banding in a fun and stimulating way.

Children from 7 years of age can join the band and a wide range of experience is catered for, from complete beginners with no musical experience through to accomplished musicians.

If your child is a complete beginner but would love to start to play a brass instrument our youth band is the perfect place, especially as we are still in the growth phase of building the band. We can often provide instrument hire if you don’t have your own. This is a great way to start learning a brass instrument without bearing the cost of purchasing an instrument for your child as these can be thousands of dollars to buy. If your child is already learning a brass instrument at school or via a private tutor that’s fine you can still join our band. Simply come along and play with the band and carry on your own lessons as normal.
